lovely review, just a question, why when I switch on the pocket 2 the flip of the camera go straight in selfie mode ? I would like when I switch on the flip go on front view, how can I modify it ?

I just bought mine and am hugely disappointed that it has to be activated by a smart phone. Unfortunally it isn't compatible with my smartphone Moto 7g play. I had to scramble and use a friends ipad to activate it. Why didn't you make this clear in your show and tell. 1 star

Do we need a budget camera, yes we do. At the end of the day, most of us aren't gonna plop down 1G+ for a phone. I'm feeling more and more, ALthers like yourself who have thousands to spend on expensive gear, forget about the little peoples.

You can't get the smoothness of a Dji on an iPhone the lvl of stabilization hand held in a pocket 2 is insanely good for the cost.

DJI should have made it easier to distinguish the Pocket 2 from the OSMO Pocket. I ordered the Pocket 2 from Amazon. The box was NOT factory sealed. Inside the Pocket 2 box was an OSMO Pocket that an unscrupulous customer had returned to Amazon. So now I have to return the wrong item. I suspect this is going to happen to other people.

What an awesome dad

Decided the smartphones are too good and were dominating my life so I'm looking for single-purpose tech to replace my phone. This Osmo Pocket looks perfect as an all-around video camera to bring with me for silly videos in the garden or whatever. Thinking make a simple pouch with elastic chest band for hands-free POV shots of harvesting, weeding, and ebike rides. It's not to make money, just to connect with other people who are into what I'm into and share my experiences to build conversation. The cheap camcorder I got first had fun zoom but makes weird focusing noises and has bad stabilization so this looks like a good upgrade ad the right balance of factors for my minimal desires. Thanks for the cuteness, he's a sweet little creature :)

iPhone stabilisation is still not as good as Pocket 2. That's a fact. Phone -----> The last I heard, we use it to make calls. Pocket 2 -----> To record video and photos Audio ------> most people will use music as the background. Most will use wireless mic to record audio. My take -------> BUY BOTH and take out both!

I want Apple to go for broke and either create their own DSLR camera lines or invest in buying a company like Canon. Think of the intuitive design of Apple products... paired with actually photography and video gear!

If you already have a £850 camera, then you probably don't need to spend £340+ on something like this, but... If you want to run and blog\timelapse, I'd rather do that with the DJI in my hand, but not everyone has an iPhone 12, though the stabilisation on that thing is awesome. I don't think it's accurate because it isn't get this or just spend £100s or $$ more on a phone (when your probably already have one!) Very cute video even so. :D

I agree with you. The one thing that totally made me ignore the pocket 2 was it has just over 2 hours of recording time (not enough for me), not so good low light performance and not so good photos as well. Taking into consideration the 'gimbal' factor, most smartphones these days have a good amount of stabilization built in. Ultimately it all depends on the end user how they wish to utilize this piece of technology.

Never recommend an Iphone over anything for recording video!! It has a serious videobug I'll explain.. Ever since the Iphone 6 when I first noticed the bug in a camera review, Apple have not fixed it. If you look at ANY Iphone video review where the film the horizon plus the sky. The entire sky and clouds flicker! It also happens when filming snowy weather. 8:20 in your video although It's hard to see with your face taking so much screenspace. It also happens when you go from an even dynamic range setting like a meodow and switch to shades from treea, then all the shadows flicker. I think something is really wrong with the shafow compensation AND backlight compensation (Dynamic Range Compressor) that makes the AI or exposure compensation strobe like crazy! Just ALthe ANY Iphone model camera review, watch the shades and sky and enjoy the damn flickering 😭

The Osmo Pocket has mechanical stabilisation? How can iPhone outdo the fact. Glitchy footage removes the professional aspect of the footage taken 😎 The Osmo looks so much sharper and picks up contrast a lot better . 1 thing iPhone has on the Osmo . The consistent light balance.

I don’t know why everybody is so caught up in wanting to make everything wide angle. Wide angle shots are easily achievable in any smartphone. I care about the zoom capability while keeping the quality high and stabilization on point to produce the best possible quality video/photo. The zoom capability of a dslr is basically the only reason I still have a dslr. I don’t need more wide angle lenses.

I just got mine today and it creates this crazy effects when i film my couch, I'm trying to figure out if the one i received is defective or something... I did some research and I think it's the "moire pattern" that I'm seeing... Do i have a defective device?? sorry to bother you with this... help! :p
