Using the cloth wouldn’t really work, that’s using a variation of Tremaux’s algorithm, for it to work properly to have to be a simple maze, a maze with no floating structures where everything is connected, if it was you’d mark the start and end of any corridor, and when you get to the intersection go any way you want, but mark it, and keep doing this and eventually you’ll reach an area where every path has at least one marker, in that case go with the lowest and mark it, if you keep doing this you’ll find the exit

This is a game

When you base a story around a game or puzzle, you're actually inviting the audience to play. You give the audience the tools (information) they need to win, but withhold the answer. If done right, they either figure out the game and "win" or they learn something new they can apply or think about. Either way, they leave satisfied. It can be complex or simple, but if the audience can still figure out how they'd play, this should work. That's where I think this movie fails. There's basically no chance anyone watching this could figure out how this is supposed to work. And you don't really leave it with anything either. So you're basically stuck watching characters solve the game for you while you wait for them to die. If it had simplified the logic to solve itself instead of over complicating everything, this could have worked much better.

They also built a lite free version of this, a Square! Imma go drink bleach rather than trying any of these things.

It makes no sense for him to just DROP her when he could easily use her to check a trap later at the very least. Like kick her into the room or something.
