One thing I wish he went into more is what he means by rewarding yourself after accomplishing a small step of a larger project. It sounded like he said just tell yourself "good job" or maybe eat something tasty. But then he said that eating like that could lead to more problems and he didn't give other examples of self rewards.....

I've experimented with all this years ago (norepinephrine reuptake inhibiting (atomoxetine, etc) along with actylcholine reuptake inhibiting via hupperzine-a, etc). I even tried to modulate excess cortisol's negative effects via trimethylglycine, rhodiola rosea, S-Adenosyl methionine, and holy basil etc. Nothing is better, to this day, for dopamine modulation than age old dextro amphetamine or dex/levo aphetamine supplementation, imo. Then you have the other all around, supportive brain health (via methyl-b12, vinpocetine, ginko, ginseng, l-glutamine, phosphatidyl serine, parecetam and much, much more). What I never resolved was the length of time it took to rev up the brain/body and then cool it all the way back down for a good deep sleep on a daily basis. It took way too long to accomplish optimally and get regular sleep.

Please take the time to do your homework on genetic mutations passed down to their offspring. My MTHFR with a specific nasty SNP associated with the MTHFR is causing me neurological issues along with other gene mutations. No amount of self reflection, focus, Qi Gong, meditation, healthy eating and so forth has ever done me any good this past decade! Now I understand why. We are all as unique as a snowflake with respect that we can't follow a cookie cutter platform for the masses and succeed in life. What works for you or my neighbor may not work for me or your neighbor.

I am following and agreeing with the body's response to stress and trauma and rerouting that with self awareness with different physiological technics . But I see that you were staying away from psychedelics or medications to help with this trauma ..I believe that the use of these substances can be useful in addressing deep suppressed trauma and rewiring the brain. Seems as though you may be adding to the stigma of the use of these substances or it doesn't directly align with your research. The science of subjectivity lol.

So so much stuff today about 'Brain' The brain has it's function FOR the human, not the HUMAN has it's function for the brain. Today it has become the latter and we wonder why everything is breaking down. Human, appreciation, gratitude, wonder, joy, these do not abide in the brain but in the human in the heart. No one today talks about the heart, it has become out of fashion out of COOL, yet it is the goodness. When you finish building a house you dont throw it away and keep the scaffolding, scaffolding is there to help build the house but it is not the house, it is taken away after. Our focus has become on the scaffolding today. Success is not about a job or money, success is about knowing who you are as a human being, not an animal but a human being. It takes something special to stop and just be. Brain will never tell us who we are because it was not made for that purpose. Life comes in and out of us with every breath without which we would be dust, but we dont understand the implication of that powerful thing until we dont have it. If you were stranded in the middle of the ocean in a small boat you would not be considering success, only hoping to be saved. The very thing that gives us our life we forget about and get lost into all these theory's. But when the end is near and we are taking our last breath we wont be thinking about any of them, but just another breath.

This is one of the greatest 2 hours of learning I've experienced in a long time. There is sooooo much out there about brute forcing discipline, or just "getting over" trauma, but this really opened my eyes to all the underlying things that go into making sustainable changes in our bodies, and the "WHY" it happens. Knowing that our bodies react to the change between yellow light and blue light was huge. Knowing about horizontal eye movements, or that it's not "will" that overcomes things is MASSIVE for me. Great interview, great content. I need to listen to this multiple times and take notes because there's so much to unpack, but yet it's delivered in a manner that is digestible and not overly scientific that makes it hard to understand.
