    Where did you get 4 hoverboard batteries? Did you have to take 4 toys apart to get the batteries?

    google "battery hookup" .. its a surplus and used battery market. Ebay has them too.

    At the 4:11 mark when showing the extension you added to make it longer, sitting here in my chair staring at the screen eyeballing that thing, it looked way off center? If so, sure hope you straightened that out! But this thing looks awesome finished!

    Thanks, it was a fun build. The original quad had an offset frame (due to the engine and drivetrain) but the centerline from front to back is fairly straight. It was too much work and not necessary to hack up the frame to remove the offset. I've been busy making how to videos over at Hardy Renovations for the last year or so. althe.info/home/QzRGOYf4fSytAySfZb9S6g.html I'd be grateful for the sub over there :}

    it is a 36VDC 1kw motor from ebay. It is 36V because the battery packs are 36V, Paired with an 800w? controller .. I think.

    Hello, how much teeth have rear sprocket and how much the front? And whatvtype of chain is compatible with them? I have the same motor, but no chain, and I am a bit lost...

    @jishimoari I think my sprockets were 10T -> 70T Even with this, my torque is lower than I want. I am a 200lb gorilla. My daughter is 100lb and it is just about right for her. Top speed is around 25km/h

    @Chris Hardy thank you, I just made calculation, my motor hqve 2800rpm, and sprocket have 10teeth, rear one have 40 teet, and with my tyres speed will be over 60km/h. So I came with soutin - another reduction between motor and axle, so gears will be like 10T->19T ON THE SAME AXLE AS 10T->40T, and this gives me 32km/h top speed. I hope the torque is good enough to climb over the pile of dirt :-)

    The sprocket that came with the motor was a bicycle chain sprocket. As you saw in the video, I had to replace that with a #420 chain and sprockets that I welded in place. That motor is very low torque, high rpm. So the smallest sprocket you can find should be fitted to the motor and the largest one that will fit on the axle will give you usable speed and torque.

    What is the type of the motor you have used? and does it need a driver if I want to control it autonomously or remotely?

    ground - sprocket clearance 1-2 inches?

    2 inches at most. Its definately not a fully off road bike anymore. It gets used on grass and gravel mostly.

    Does the motor freewheel? I'm looking at a similar conversion. These motors can be found with a 6:1 reduction gear but you lose the ability to back drive it.

    Yes it coasts when there is no throttle unlike motors with electric brakes or regen.

    did u tested on a hill to see if have enaf power ? and at 13:45 is she wearing sockets? o.O

    Very low torque ... but it has a great top speed. I wish the motor was twice the power, however it would be more dangerous wearing only socks. Lol

    Quads are not road legal in my suburban environment. However, there are many electric scooters and e-bikes around, so I just transport it (and my two other gas quads) to my family's place in the country when we want to go riding. Yes, I basically just swapped from gas to battery.
