That's pretty normal. Guys like Kasparov can play blindfold simultaneous on many boards, it's no problem for him to calculate variations for many many moves. Every grandmaster can calculate really far ahead, but it doesn't mean they won't miss some good moves here or there.

@Andrzej Wilk Yeah Radjabov had a couple of bad years. He used to play very sharp King's Indian defense and very sharp French defense lines. So he came back with his now super solid opening repertoire. (Berlin & Ragozin). Still an amazing player but he takes less risk nowadays

@Stop writing that reply Johnathanthan They get invited purely because they have high ratings. Tournament organizers want the highest average rating possible so they can get the most money possible from sponsors, who in turn believe that having the highest rating is what will draw eyeballs to whatever shit they're trying promote. And if these guys are only playing these closed invitationals and drawing every game with all the other 2750 players they get to keep their rating and continue to get invited to these tournaments. It's systemic problem baked into the concept of chess as a spectator sport.

I have no idea why he and Nakamura get invited to events, of course chess is a draw but that isn't justification for playing forced draws with both colours for 19/20 games. There are hundreds of players who would want to play these events and would never have the possibility of a forced draw cross their minds
