It's insane how this man was able to go on for almost a 100 games without losing single one playing like that.

@Aliens Confirmed I agree with you, today players use strong engines to analize strong continuation after opening but even engines can sacrifice and play interesting lines. I think thats what is chess about today. To play more precisely like a computer

  • Aliens Confirmed

    Aliens Confirmed

    11 ditë më parë

@PolishChessHustlers Instead of improved we can say little more theoretical knowledge or effect of engines. I have heard some of today's players including Magnus try playing like Stockfish. But that's not necessarily the ultimate way. AI plays actually feel lot more interesting to me than Stockfish. Talking of Tal moves, once you sacrifice an entire piece, you are more often than not gonna have disadvantage theoretically. There could be exceptions like this game where even after piece sacrifice it's a draw in worst case scenario for Tal. This means some times it's possible to have lines where sacrifices actually lead you to advantage. In essence if no one plays like that today does not necessarily mean it's wrong way. It would actually take some great skill level to play like that and make it work. I believe and I hope AI will show us different ways of playing the game in future, one of which will be like Tal.

  • PolishChessHustlers

    PolishChessHustlers

    12 ditë më parë

@Aliens Confirmed well thats what I mean. Maybe not blunder but inaccuracy most times. Why nobody plays like Tal nowadays? Because chess level improved. Tal highest rating was 2700 and it was 2nd best in the world in his time after Karpov

  • Aliens Confirmed

    Aliens Confirmed

    12 ditë më parë

@PolishChessHustlers It's hard to imagine at that level he would be blundering his pieces often. More times he would have plans, which of course won't be perfect but to come up with sharpest counter moves is not something many can do.

  • Aliens Confirmed

    Aliens Confirmed

    12 ditë më parë

@Brian Gerra So that's like improvement in the knowledge of the game. If Carlsen was born 50 years prior he would do similar mistakes while any older legend playing today will have greater accuracy. This would happen in like 90% of the sports. And yes it's right in some sense but not a fair way to compare pure skill levels.

i barely calculate 3 moves for one piece. i realized that all scenarios agadmator shows us, tal was doing them lighting speed in his head, and probably calculating even more moves. truly art of chess.

I believe Fischer, Kasparov, Capa, Alekhine, Karpov and Carlsen all have to be rated higher than Tal in the pantheon. Maybe Morphy too. However, there is nobody like Tal who can make me go "OMG" three or four times in a game. Most brilliant of all time.

6:52 That's not the only option. After Bxg4, Nxg4, Rfxg4!, Qxg4, there's Rg1, and black have to sacrifice the queen. I know it's the queen for the two rooks, but black pawn structure is not impresing anyone, not to mention the dangerous white passed h pawn. The engine says it's still close to equal.
