Chess Grandmaster Varuzhan Akobian presents a lecture for beginners at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis.
Where can I find more like this?
What about Bishop to C4 in the last example? If the queen takes the bait then you take the rook, checkmate. If not, Queen to F7, also checkmate
These kids are what, third graders? Im 64. Jeez. These kids, with their tiny voices, know more than I do. I am humiliated thinking about it. Thinking about the fact that a 10-year-old girl could easily beat a 64-year-old old man. Jeez Louise.
Amazing teacher with awesome patience with the students which sound very young.
9:13 -review 13:12 A3 - stop fork 24:15 Kings Indian defense- against D4 27:19
This was so amazing, thank you!! Very well explained and I loved the puzzles at the end!

Those kids are a product of the American education system.
He's got very stupid students. Poor teacher.
@Savage you are seriously acting like a savage
@Incognitus what were u doing in 3rd grade cracking codes?
@Savage if this is normal for 8 years old then sorry for my comment.. I don't have children yet so I don't know how fast intelligence is developing
What ages are the kids... around 6???
Wow!! Educating 💯💖...i have learnt a lot, just when i thought I played good chess then, Boom!!! My blunders appear... Thank you for the insight... I have bn emancipated from mental slavery 💖💯💯🍾
If I am playing with black pieces, why I shouldn't develop bishop to B4 attacking white knight at C3 at the Slave defense? All those initial movements seems so passive, I'm trying to learn chess strategy but rarely in actual online games I have the chance to make a good development before attacking, the other players always rush in and I don't know how to proceed. So I try to play avoiding to lose pieces and end up doing less precise movements. How can I correct that?
Let me guess, you've developed
Queen is on d1 already..!!🤣🤣
I watched the video one year and two months ago, but i still use the queen gambit which increase my raiting from 700 to 1200.. Although that this video still one of the best of mine ❤️ love for Mr. Akobian
Lovely teacher he is " Try not to attack" was lovely to hear
This is probably a dumb question but I just started, what is an open file? I look it up and it tells me what a file is its a vertical row and ranks are horizontal but what makes it open? When a pawn isnt protecting the minor or major pieces?
This man is patient beyond recognition. Great teacher.
หากมีคนไทยมาชม give me five 🤝ส่งสัญญาณมาทางนี้ครับ🇹🇭
Var rules, and that's that.
queens gambit EXCEPTED, as pronounced...instead of ACCEPTED..

Great job. Thanks a lot.
This was an amazing video, loved the explaination. Where I can watch the part two of this video?
Very informative....can I have a chance to ask some questions to you..
bad teaching. Rigidly teaching the openings leads to stupid chess.
thanks for teacher
i like chess
What a teacher!
Excellent opening strategies taught in a simplified manner!
Well what happens if my oponent is not playing according to plan 🙄
When ur opponet moves the pawn that has the rook behind it 😐
He have patience of a Budha
Kid's didn't know back then "Queen's Gambit" was gonna be a great show 🥲
I was just learning opening basic from him, d pawn opening and black defence.
Love it. Right down my alley as I’m a beginner 😄🤘🏽& 50
That puzzle at the end Qf7 also works instead of Qb7 right?
@gijs van dijk yeah you’re right that’s it - i didn’t see that at first !
I see... but black can also just take white's queen with the king so it's actually a blunder right?
@gijs van dijkif black queen blocks with either Qe8 or Qf8, there is Bc4+ for white, in which it is mate in 1.
Yo a little late but no, black's queen just takes white's queen. If then rook tales rook check the queen can block the check and it's an equal exchange
I am advanced in age and getting taught like a child has improved my chess to a level - even my mood has improved as I start to win more games.

My man was ignored all the time! 😭
This man explaines brilliant :-)
I got some chess games on mine you can watch
Very good explaination, and very nice tactics, I learned good opennings from you. So I thank you.
Anybody knows what's the software that he's using?
Love me some Queens Gambit. Always great results with it. I find e4 openings to be too tricky to get advantage with
Actually I do like one e4 opening, the ponziani
anyone tell me what is this software name ?????

I'm here, need something to teach to my newborn, music and chess would be awesome. 😁 I have a question sir, in Slav defense exchange var 21:43, we have Bf4 before e3, bcs we don't want to block our bishop, then why black respond exactly blocking its own bishop with e6?
Vo tme podobných v obraze v zrkadle vybral tu samu z 12 jednu z 11 ne existovali
Bravo GM !
try to learn chess, by using vpn wkwkwk
Is it just me, or does this guy look like Joe Rogan?
This is a good comment.
Hello Sir this is a great video. But in the last puzzle isn t it 1.Qxf7+ QxQf7 2.RxRd8+ Qf8 3.Bc4+ Kh8 4.RxQf8# a forced check mate otherwise black loses a queen if he decides to go 1... Kh8 ?
The gray greasy great yard bizarrely pop because roadway differently trick towards a illegal lunge. fearful fearless, parallel nic
10:06 Didn't expect rule number 3 to be that brutal
He said he was going to introduce ten openings, but he only mentioned The Queen's Gambit, the Slav and the King's Indian. What about the other seven?
He can't make videos that long
Here are my notes from this awesome video: 1:47 - queen's gambit accepted White can attempt trap with queen on F3 13:42 - queen's gambit declined Bishop on G5 putting pressure on the queen 19:58 - Slav defense - exchange variation Bishops goes B4 and D3. At the end of the development this D3 bishop is more active than the black bishop and give a slight advantage. 27:54 - King's indian defense - Smyslov-Petrosian System Bishop on E2 White trap: black may try to capture the bishop on G5. May result in a check mate. Genaral tips: - overall: knights before beshops - do not attack before every pieces have been developped.
I'm a beginner, and hv a question sir. In Slav defense, 21:43 we have a logical reason to play Bf4 before e3, bcs we don't want to block our Bishop, then why would black responing with exactly the other way? With e6, black blocking its own bishop. Or is there another reason?
you are wrong
